Em Estrasburgo, ao leste da França, esta árvore gigante marca a abertura de um dos mais tradicionais mercados de natal: o Christkindelsmärik (mercado do menino Jesus em português), que atrai aproximadamente 1,6 milhões de visitantes nesta época.

A árvore do Rio de Janeiro possui a personalidade da cidade. Trata-se da maior árvore de natal flutuante do mundo, de acordo com o Guinness Book, o Livro dos Recordes. É erguida todos os anos na Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.
Com 82 metros de altura e 450 toneladas de peso, é montada sobre uma estrutura flutuante de 810 metros quadrados. A árvore é o centro de um espetáculo, que se repete todas as noites, com água em movimento, música e luzes. Este ano, o espetáculo começa no dia 26 de Novembro e dura até ao Dia de Reis.
 
The tree of Rio de Janeiro has the personality of the city. It is the largest floating Christmas tree in the world, according to the Guinness Book, the Book of Records. It is raised every year in the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.
With 82 meters high and 450 tons in weight, is mounted on a floating structure of 810 square meters. The tree is the center of a show, which is repeated every night, with water, music and lights. This year, the show begins on November 26 and lasts until the Epiphany.

No Rockefeller Center em Nova York, a árvore é eleita por um alto executivo, que sobrevoa em helicóptero grandes áreas de florestas entre os estados de Connecticut, Ohio e Vermont, nos Estados Unidos, e inclusive Ontario, no Canadá, até encontrar o exemplar perfeito, que costuma medir entre 23 e 27 metros.
Uma vez eleita, a árvore é cortada e levada até ao seu lugar, onde é decorada com oito quilômetros de cabos com luzes e cerca de 30 mil lâmpadas. Na ponta, uma estrela de cristais Swarovski de três metros de diâmetro e 250 quilos de peso enfeita o final da árvore.


At the Rockefeller Center in New York, the tree is chosen by a senior executive, who flies in a helicopter large areas of forest between the states of Connecticut, Ohio and Vermont, United States, and even Ontario, Canada, until find the perfect specimen, which usually measure between 23 and 27 meters.
Once elected, the tree is cut and carried to its place where it is decorated with eight miles of wire with lights and about 30 000 light bulbs. In the end, a Swarovski crystal star of three meters in diameter and 250 kilos of weight graces the end of the tree.

Dicas para a viagem a Veneza | Tips for the trip to Veniced

Viajar para Veneza pode ser uma viagem barata ou extremamente cara. Há imensas opções e cabe a cada um escolher a melhor.

De Portugal a Veneza por avião é caro, os voos são caríssimos mas temos a opção low-cost para Milão.

Do aeroporto de Malpensa há comboio directo para Milão, estação central, e o bilhete custa €7 e são cerca de 30 minutos. Da estação central de Milão há comboios para Veneza e o preço depende da hora mas ficará à volta de €35. Pode-se comprar logo os bilhetes directamente de Malpensa para Veneza.

Chegada a Veneza. Veneza tem uma "estrada" principal que é o Grande Canal, tudo o resto é a pé. Por isso ou compra um bilhete para os "autocarros", os Vaporetto que fazem esse canal ou apanha um "táxi" barco. Seja como for o táxi vai deixá-lo exactamente no mesmo sítio que o Vaporetto excepto se escolher um hotel que tenha entrada directa no canal. Saindo do táxi ou Vaporetto até ao seu hotel é a pé...esqueça, não alternativas...é a pé...Por isso atenção à quantidade de malas que pretende levar porque vai ter de as carregar..e atenção também que por entre as ruazinhas há muitas pontezinhas com escadas.

O bilhete para o Vaporetto são €6,5. Há a possibilidade de comprar um bilhete turístico que ficará muito mais barato. Mas de uma ponta de Veneza a outra são 2 km...se escolher um local central para ficar, como nós ficámos, só utilizámos o Vaporetto para a chegada e a ida para a estação de resto foi sempre a pé.

Veneza vive dos turistas que são milhões por ano. Por isso hotéis não faltam, há para todos os gostos e carteiras. Tenham atenção que grande parte dos hotéis não incluem na diária o Pequeno-Almoço (PA) por isso ao fazerem as contas não se esqueçam deste. Nós escolhemos um pequeno hotel bem no centro e pedimos para incluir o PA. Pelo preço que nós pagámos vimos muitos pequenos apartamentos para os mesmo dias. Esses apartamentos tinham 2 quartos com WC, cozinha e sala. É uma óptima alternativa se quiserem dividir a despesa com alguém. Além disso podem sempre fazer as refeições em casa.

Relativamete às refeições a questão é a mesma. Opções não faltam, em cada rua há pelo menos 1 restaurante ou quiosque de comida. Todos os restaurantes têm a ementa disponível à porta para consulta com os preços. ATENÇÃO a um pormenor, grande parte dos restaurantes cobram à parte o que eles chama  de "serviço" e muitas vezes é isso que diferencia um restaurante de outro. Os pratos têm mais ou menos o mesmo valor mas há restaurantes que cobram um serviço de €3,5 por pessoa outros €10. Também existem o que não cobram o serviço.
Nos quiosques além de fatias de pizza enormes há também crepes, sandes, fruta fresca, etc. com valores de €2 a €3. Sem falar nos gelados: 1 bola €1, 2 bolas €2, 3 bolas €3, 4 bolas €3,50, 5 bolas €4...e por aí fora...

A maior parte das igrejas não cobram entrada mas podem pedir atenção à roupa que trazem  (ombros à mostra ou calções e saias/vestidos curtos), entradas para museus, palácios, torres os preços variam mas é facilmente consultável na internet os preços na altura.

Só o facto de andarem pela cidade, entrarem nas galerias, lojas e igrejas já e só por si é bastante recompensador e vale a viagem.

Andar de gôndola é caro, os preços variam entre os €100 a €200, em qualquer esquina há gondoleiros (são mais de 400 em Veneza).

Veneza foi muito melhor do que estava à espera.

Boa Viagem

Travelling to Venice can be an extremely expensive or cheap travel. There are plenty of options and it is up to you to choose your best. 

From Portugal to Venice by plane is expensive, flights are expensive but we have the low-cost option for Milan. 

From Malpensa airport there are a direct train to Milan Central Station and the ticket costs €7 and it's about 30 minutes. From Central Station there are trains from Milan to Venice and the price depends on time but will be around €35. You can just buy the tickets directly from Malpensa to Venice.

Arrival in Venice. Venice has a main "road" that's the Grand Canal, all the rest is on foot. So either buy a ticket for "bus", the Vaporetto that make this river or catch a "taxi" boat. Anyway the taxi will leave you in the exactly same place that the Vaporetto unless  you choose an hotel that has a direct entrance to the Grand Canal. Leaving the Vaporetto or taxi to your hotel is walking ... Remember, there are no alternatives ... it's only walk ... So watch the amount of luggage you want to take because it will have be you to cary it .. and also not only narrow streets there are many small bridge with stairs.
The ticket for the Vaporetto is €6.5. There is the possibility to buy a tourist ticket that will be much cheaper. But from one end of Venice to  the other are 2 km ... if you choose a central location to stay, as we did, we only used the Vaporetto to the arrival and departure for the station the rest was always on foot.

Venice lives of tourists who are million per year. So there are many hotels, for all tastes and wallets. Be aware that many of the hotels do not include the daily breakfast, so when doing the booking and do not forget this. We chose a small hotel in the center and ask to include the breakfast. For the price we paid we saw many small apartments for the same days. These apartments have 2 bedrooms with toilet, kitchen and living room. It is a great alternative if you want to share the expense with someone. Also you can always do the meals at home.

For the meals, it is the same thing. Options abound in every street there is at least one restaurant or food stand. All restaurants have the menu available at the door for consultation with the prices. Attention to a detail, most restaurants charge extra for what they call "the service" and is often what distinguishes one restaurant from another. The plates are more or less the same value but there are restaurants charging a service of €3.5 per person €10 others. There are also restaurants without "the service". 

In alternative there are the food stands with huge slices of pizza, sandwiches, fresh fruit, etc.. with values ​​from  €2 to €3. Not to mention the ice cream: 1 scoup €1, 2 scoups €2, €3 3 scoups, 4 scoups €3.50, 5 scoups €4, and so on ... 

Most churches do not charge entry but may have dress code; tickets to museums, palaces, towers prices vary but you can easily search on the internet for the prices. 

Just for the simple fact that you walked through the city, entering the galleries, shops and churches and by itself it is very rewarding and it's worth the trip. 

Riding a gondola is expensive, prices range between €100 to €200, in any corner there are gondoliers (more than 400 in Venice). 

Venice was much better than I expected.

Na Ponte di Accademia selámos a nossa viagem com um cadeado...não 1 mas 2. Ao 41º degrau de quem sobe do lado de S.Marco do lado esquerdo, junto a muitos outros colocámos o nosso cadeado grande com as nossas iniciais e agarrado ao nosso um pequenino do nosso "pestinha". Temos as chaves para quando voltármos um dia a Veneza irmos lá recordar.

Deixámos a nossa marca e selámos a viagem.

In the Accademia Bridge we seal our journey with a locker. Not one but 2 lockers. On the 42º step from S. Marco on the left side, on the side of many others we put our big locker with our initials and attach to our the little locker of our kid. We kept the keys so one day we could return to Venice and go there to remember.
We seal our journey and left our mark.

Apanhar o Vaporetto, linha 1 direcção a Lido, outra ilha em frente a Veneza.

25 minutos de viagem, e regressámos à civilização: já temos estradas e carros e motas e autocarros; já temos passadeiras de peões e postes de electricidade, cruzamentos e supermercados.

Passámos a manhã na praia. A areia é escura e dura, a água estava uma maravilha.

Catch the Vaporetto Line 1 direction to Lido, another island in front of Venice. 25 minutes and we are back to civilization.
Here are streets and cars and motorcycles and buses. Here we have crosswalkers and electrical polls, and supermarkets.
We spent the morning at the beach. The sand is dark and hard, the sea was wonderfull.

O vídeo não é o melhor porque foi de emergência...e apanhámos no fim da actuação. Bem não era o fim mas passou a sê-lo. Todo o som que ouvem vem apenas da voz deste senhor.

Na praça a outra atracção são os pombos. Basta estender a mão que acabam por vir. E se quiserem armarem-se em espantalhos, é só colocar milho na cabeça e/ou nas mãos e abrir os braços e esperar que venham poisar.

The video is not the best because it was an emergency ... and we caught the end of the performance. Well it was not the end but it had to be. Every sound you hear is only the voice of this gentleman.

In the square the pigeons are the attraction. Just reach out the hand for they to come. And if they want to arm yourselves in scarecrows, just put some corn on the head and/or in the hands and open your arms and wait for they to come.

Ponto de encontro para todos os turístas, vaporettos, gondoleiros, casais de noivos e pombos

Nas arcadas circundantes à praça existem imensos cafés com esplanada e grande parte deles tem uma orquestra a tocar para os seus clientes. Ora um desses cafés é o Florian, o mais antigo de Veneza e um dos mais antigos de Mundo. Decidimos que tínhamos de lá ir...e já estávamos a contar pagar uma fortuna por um cappuccino. Procurámos uma sombra e sentámos-nos. Um empregado trouxe-nos o menu que abriu logo numa página onde nos apontou para o fundo onde se lia que haveria um suplemento adicional de €6,5 por pessoa para a orquestra. E assim terminou a nossa ida ao café mais antigo do mundo.

In the arcades surrounding the square there are plenty of outdoor cafes and most of them have a band to play for their customers. Now one of these cafes is the Florian, Venice's oldest and one of the oldest in the world. We decided we had to go there ... and we were prepared to pay a fortune for a cappuccino. We looked for a shadow and sat down. A waiter brought us the menu that just opened on a page where he pointed to the bottom that was written that there would be charged an additional of € 6.5 per person for the orchestra. And so ended our trip to the world's oldest coffee.

Um gondoleiro chamado Luciano | A gondolier named Luciano

Chama-se Luciano e foi o nosso gondoleiro. Sim vir a Veneza e não andar de gôndola é o mesmo que "ir a Roma e não ver o Papa".

Filho e neto de gondoleiros. Mas a tradição familiar vai acabar nele visto que tem uma filha.

Dizem que são mais de 400 gondoleiros em Veneza e apenas um mulher. Ei-la.

Visto que em Veneza os únicos meios de transportes é a pé ou de barco, os gondoleiros serviam para isso mesmo, transporte. Hoje é simplesmente turístico.

É caro, muito caro. Há vários pontos onde podem apanhar as gôndolas. O Luciano está na Praça de S. Marcos. Vem da Ilha de Murano. Toda a vida viveu em Veneza e sempre foi gondoleiro.

His name is Luciano and was our gondolier. Coming to Venice and not have a gondola ride is the same as "going to Rome and not seeing the Pope."

Son and grandson of gondoliers. But the family tradition will end because he has a daughter.

They say they are more and 400 gondoliers in Venice and only one woman. We found her.
 
In Venice the only way of transport is by foot or boat, the gondoliers were for this reason, transportation. Today is just tourism.

It is expensive, very expensive. There are several points where they can catch the gondola. Luciano is in Piazza San Marco. He was born on the island of Murano. Always lived in Venice and always has been a gondolier.

De comboio até Veneza...Quando saimos da estação foi como se estivesse dentro do filme The Tourist..tal e qual a visão dela a chegar a Veneza...Excepto o facto de estar imenso calor. E estávamos nós preocupados com a chuva.

 Veneza é um emaranhado labirintico de ruas, vielas, becos e, claro está, pontes. Em Veneza não há estradas...não há carros, motas ou bicicletas. Aqui ou se anda a pé ou de barco. As casas têm duas entradas, uma do lado da rua outra do lado do rio.

As ruas estão cheias de lojas, quiosques de comida, gelados, souvenirs, roupa, restaurantes e as pessoas são muitas....aos milhares. Em cada esquina uma Igreja, um Palácio, uma galeria de arte.

Veneza é um misto de arte, história e design. Veneza parece parada no tempo mas ao mesmo tempo muito moderna, estão aqui todas as marcas de design.

By train to Venice ... When we left the station it was like in the movie The Tourist .. just like the scene on arriving Venice ... Except the fact of being very hot. And we were worried about the rain.

Venice is a tangled maze of streets, lanes, alleys and, of course, bridges. In Venice there are no roads ... no cars, motorbikes or bicycles. Here or you walk on foot or by boat. The houses have two entrances, one from the street the other from the riverside.

The streets are full of shops, food stalls, ice cream, souvenirs, clothing, restaurants...and there are a lot of people...thousands. On every corner there is a church, a palace, an art gallery.

Venice is a mix of art, history and design. Venice seems frozen in time but at the same time very modern, here are all the best design brands.

A família Borromeo foi a responsável pela construção deste grandioso palácio e jardins. Começou o pai e deu o nome da sua esposa:  Ilha Isabella, com o tempo passou a diminutivo Bella. Acabaram os filhos a construção mudando por completo o projecto original. O objectivo era que parecesse um barco a navegar no lago.

O palácio é cheio de grandes salões e os jardins sumptuosos.

Foi aqui que fiquei noiva do meu "pestinha".

The Borromeo family was responsible for the construction of this grand palace and gardens. Began with the father that gave his wife name, Isabella Island over the time became the short name Bella. The soons finished building changing the original design. The aim was to look like a boat sailing in the lake.
 

The palace is filled with large rooms and lush gardens.
It was here that I got engaged to my kid.
